GANANOQUE, ONTARIO — Woo Art Gallery is pleased to announce the 2026 Woo Art Show, “C’ArtP Mazes: Caligomos Art Philosophy & Journey!”, taking place October 4–7, 2026, at Woo Art Gallery in Gananoque, Ontario.
Created by multidisciplinary artist and author John HR Woo, the exhibition invites visitors to enter a symbolic maze of art, philosophy, and human becoming. At its centre is the C’Oloid, Woo’s sculptural transformation of the oloid into a visual and philosophical embodiment of Caligomos Art Philosophy.
Through sculpture, geometry, colour, layered imagery, and spatial relationships, the exhibition explores the human passage from darkness and uncertainty toward creativity, consciousness, and meaningful order.
A Journey Through the C’ArtP Maze
The maze is both the exhibition’s structure and its governing metaphor. It represents the uncertain course of human experience: searching, wandering, confronting obstacles, changing direction, and discovering unexpected possibilities.
Rather than presenting one predetermined route, the exhibition encourages each visitor to find a personal path through the artworks. Every passage, pause, and turning point becomes part of a journey between the known and unknown.
This journey reflects the three interrelated foundations of Caligomos Art Philosophy:
* Caliginosity — darkness, mystery, obscurity, and the unknown
* Metaxy — the transformative space between opposing conditions
* Kosmos — interconnectedness, harmony, and meaningful order
Metaxy is not presented as a passive midpoint or perfect equilibrium. It is an active threshold where opposing forces meet, remain in creative tension, and generate new possibilities.
“The maze represents our passage through Caliginosity toward Kosmos,” said John HR Woo. “We cannot always see the entire path, but uncertainty is not emptiness. It is the creative Metaxy where transformation begins.”
C’Oloid: The Form of a Transformative Journey
The C’Oloid is John HR Woo’s artistic reinterpretation of the oloid—a continuous geometric body derived from two equal, perpendicular circles. The “C” identifies the form with Caligomos, transforming mathematical geometry into a sculptural language of philosophical and spiritual inquiry.
A passage extending through the C’Oloid connects its opposing circular ends. This opening is not merely empty space; it represents a threshold, a channel, and a journey. It evokes movement from one condition to another: from darkness to illumination, fragmentation to connection, and uncertainty to emerging order.
Because the C’Oloid has no single fixed visual identity, its appearance changes as the viewer moves around it. Curved surfaces, circular origins, diagonal movement, and interior emptiness continuously reshape one another. The sculpture therefore embodies Metaxy—a living condition between stability and motion, interior and exterior, presence and absence.
Within the exhibition, the C’Oloid becomes a symbolic traveller through the six Major Clusters and eight Binary Concepts of C’ArtP. It carries marks, colours, symbols, and images across its surface, turning the geometric body into a moving map of consciousness and creative transformation. The C’Oloid does not illustrate a final answer. It invites the viewer to enter the question.
Transcendence, Paradigm, and Reality
The exhibition also explores the three Grand Categories of Caligomos Art Philosophy:
* Transcendence — spiritual aspiration, higher meaning, and the search beyond the immediately visible
* Paradigm — ideas, structures, systems, and conceptual understanding
* Reality — material existence, sensory experience, and lived human conditions
The C’Oloid moves symbolically among these three dimensions. Its continuous surface suggests their interdependence, while its central passage expresses the transformative movement connecting them.
Together, Transcendence, Paradigm, and Reality form a creative journey from inspiration through understanding to manifestation.
An Invitation to Participate
“C’ArtP Mazes” welcomes artists, collectors, curators, educators, students, philosophers, and members of the public interested in contemporary art, geometry, metaphysics, creativity, and the evolving relationship between human consciousness and the world.
Visitors are encouraged not simply to observe the artworks, but to encounter them as thresholds. Each work offers a different route through mystery, tension, reconciliation, and renewal.
The 2026 Woo Art Show presents art not as a finished destination, but as a continuing journey—a maze through which darkness may become possibility and uncertainty may open into creation.

About John HR Woo
John HR Woo is a multidisciplinary artist, author, and creator of Caligomos Art Philosophy. He worked for more than three decades at the School of Art and Design at Seoul National University of Technology and later at Carleton University in Canada.
Now based in Gananoque, Ontario, Woo explores Integral Art, metaphysics, symbolic aesthetics, cultural synthesis, and the relationship among beauty, truth, goodness, and human life. His art seeks to transcend limited forms and interpretations by connecting spiritual inquiry, conceptual structure, and material experience.
About C’Oloid
C’Oloid is John HR Woo’s sculptural reinterpretation of the geometric oloid through Caligomos Art Philosophy. Its continuous curved surface and penetrating passage unite opposites such as interior and exterior, stillness and motion, darkness and light, and form and emptiness.
As both an artwork and a philosophical symbol, C’Oloid embodies Metaxy—the transformative condition “in between.” It represents an ongoing journey from Caliginosity, the mysterious and obscure, toward Kosmos, the emergence of interconnected and harmonious order.

About WOO ART STUDIO:
Woo Art Studio is an experimental art initiative by John HR Woo. He was a Dean of the School of Art and Design at the Seoul National University of Technology, South Korea, and an Adjunct Professor at Carleton University, Canada. His principal areas of interest are Integral Art, Aesthetics of the Unity of Beauty, Truth, Good, and Art Consilience for Human Life. After working at the School of Art and Design in Seoul, he moved to Canada in 2008. Then, he changed his life to find the ultimate object in his inquiry into Art and human life.
